The all-new Mazda3 perfectly encapsulates the manufacturer's desire to constantly innovate and push the motor industry forward. From its design to its performance, the compact model takes a unique approach – and the result is remarkable.
From one look, the all-new Mazda3 leaves a lasting impression, with its aerodynamic body sculpted in the brand's latest design language for effortless style. An aggressive front end couples narrow, sweeping headlights with a large, dominating front grille. The Hatchback's roofline ends at a sporty rear spoiler and a short overhang, while the Fastback carries the roof over further for a classic saloon shape. Sixteen-inch alloy wheels come as standard, and the SE-L grade adds front fog lights to boost the car's sports character.
The cabin has been designed with equally high attention to detail, moulded to enhance your time at the wheel and make driving simple. The leather-wrapped gear knob and steering wheel are elegant touches, while premium black cloth trim envelops the supportive seats. It is here in the cockpit that you find Mazda's latest technology in abundance.
At no extra cost, there's a seven-inch touchscreen display and the Mazda Multimedia Commander, alongside internet app integration, a trip computer and USB, iPod ®, and Bluetooth® connectivity. A number of these functions can be commanded without lifting a finger using the steering wheel-mounted controls, and the pulsating engines start at the touch of a button.
There are three units to choose from, with each benefitting from the carmaker's pioneering SKYACTIV-Technology for responsive performance with no compromise on economy. The 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-G gives 100ps and – like the 120ps 2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G manual – emits just 119g/km of CO 2. The 150ps 2.2-litre SKYACTIV-D diesel manual betters this with 107g/km, and it's also the quickest, reaching 60mph from standing in less than eight seconds.
Safety is one other area in which the model excels, as a variety of intelligent technologies combine to protect. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Traction Control System (TCS) help you avoid accidents by keeping the car poised on the road, while front, side and rear curtain airbags plus ISOFIX anchor points safeguard against impacts. It's no surprise the all-new Mazda3 boasts a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
